CAROL COLBY TANENBAUM
Photography offers the viewer the opportunity to see through the eyes of another. By taking subjects out of context, and by changing their color and/or perspective, I hope to bring the viewer’s eye to the sensuality and complexity of objects usually rejected as abandoned, decayed or deteriorating.
When I photograph individuals, it is the unguarded moment that I search for, to show vulnerability and/or strength. In other photographs, I try to show the fantasy of an everyday situation or environment. While the resulting photographs might seem disparate, they can by strikingly similar.
